Notice of MUPA Annual Election 2024 – Nomination Period Opens!

We would like to announce the commencement of MUPA Annual Election 2024! Nominations are now open for all Executive Committee positions. All interested Monash Malaysia postgraduates (except for academic, research or administrative Monash Malaysia staff) who are enrolled in postgraduate courses/diplomas are encouraged to apply for the following positions.

MUPA Annual Election 2024 Timeline

Nomination period  4th October 2024, Friday (8am) – 14th October 2024, Monday (6pm)
Manifesto preparation & Campaigning period  15th October 2024, Tuesday (8am) – 20th October 2024, Sunday (6pm)
Polling period 21st October 2024, Monday (8am) – 23rd October 2024, Wednesday (6pm)
Declaration of results 1st November 2024, Friday

Note: All times stated is in Malaysia Time (MYT). If the candidates are uncontested, there will be no polling and the results of the new committee will be announced on Monday, 21st October 2024.

Key information to note:

    • With the exception of the President and Secretary positions, candidates may run together with another person.
    • For the position of Welfare Executive, a joint position of one male and one female is required.
    • Traditionally, positions under “Student Representatives” have been held by ONE (1) person.
    • Refer to the attached Appendix 2 – Guidelines for details on the documents you need to submit.

Notice of MUPA Annual Election 2024

The time has come for us to announce the MUPA Annual Election 2024! We are calling for nominations on all Executive Committee (EC) positions. Nominations will open from 4th October 2024, 8am (MYT) till 14th October 2024, 6pm (MYT).

Last call for the Monash PhD Global Mobility Program

A message from Monash Abroad (Student Life) Malaysia

Are you looking for an opportunity to conduct research abroad and expand your global network? If you have missed the recent September 2024 application round for the Monash PhD Global Mobility program, this is an extended opportunity to apply for this exciting program.

Note that this extended application round will only be available to students whose thesis submission due date is before 1 June 2026. Applicants must continue to meet the terms and conditions of the program, including completing your mobility program at least nine months before the thesis submission date.

If you are ineligible for this application round, we advise you to apply in the March 2025 application round.

Successful candidates can receive travel grants, stipends, and complimentary travel insurance.

Applications open on 1 October and close on 27 October, 2024. Don’t miss this chance to broaden your horizons! Outcomes will be communicated to you latest by 28 November 2024.

Recent MUPA Concerns + MUMGRO & 2nd Town Hall

We hear your concern about the recent lack in communication on opportunities for postgrads, in particular the PhD Global Mobility. We have raised this matter with the Monash University Malaysia Graduate Research Office (MUMGRO) who are looking into it. MUMGRO was officially established on 1 September 2024 and its primary focus is to support your graduate research journey and handle matters related to your candidature. Some key information as follows.

MUMGRO Town Hall

You’re highly encouraged to attend this second Town Hall on campus to discuss planned activities as well as raise any concerns, issues or questions. More details in the registration form. Lunch will be provided to all participants. 

Date: October 16

Time: 8.30am onwards

Venue: Active Learning Classroom 6-3-15

MUMGRO Induction Guide

For newly enrolled graduate research students (GRS), refer to the campus induction guide, which is available on the MUMGRO website. The guide may also be useful for current students who wish to refresh on candidature matters.

In-Person Enquiries at the Student Hub (MUMGRO)

We are pleased to let you know that you can walk into the Student Hub (Building 3, Level 1) from Monday through Thursday from 9am to 5pm, and on Friday from 9am to 1pm. MUMGRO staff will be available to attend to your walk-in enquiries. Please note that there will be a lunch break from 12pm to 2pm on Monday, and from 1pm to 2pm on Tuesday to Thursday. 

MUMGRO Helpdesk

MUMGRO has established a dedicated MUMGRO Helpdesk specifically for all research students and encourage you to direct your enquiries through this helpdesk. Please expect a response within 3 working days.
